Final Year Project

Project Title

Improving Control Subsystems in Microgrids

Description

The project explores the transition capability of load networks upon shifting from being fed by the main grid to the microgrid. This involves an understanding of control theory along with signal analysis, as stabilization plays a major role when a load in an electric network undergoes a transition from a change of power supply/source. Our aim is also to be able to match whatever reference voltage magnitude and its respective frequency was before this transition occurs. The research explores previously existing as well as present structures of control algorithms which utilize a popular control scheme to manage this (known as Droop control). The final implementation is a self-proposed control algorithm that has improved response time with acceptable error margins.
